Indigenous Services Canada refused to address APTN’s questions about whether there is a hunger emergency and has ignored emails on the subject

A year ago, the food bank in Cambridge Bay, Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut, served about 250 families in the community of some 2,000 people.

But that was in the era in which Inuit were receiving funding from the Hamlet Food Voucher Program (HFVP), which gave families $500 per month per child for food and an additional $250 per child under four for diapers.
