Georges-Hervé Awashish’s cousin said the family wants to see the entire investigation: “He would not have invented something like that.”
The health authority in charge of a hospital where an Indigenous man died this month after filing a complaint about racist comments has cleared its staff of any wrongdoing.
Georges-Hervé Awashish, a 53-year-old Atikamekw man from Obedjiwan, died at the Chicoutimi hospital on Oct. 11.
In the days following Joyce Echaquan’s death in late September, Awashish said he overheard hospital staff laughing about Echaquan and saying “we have an Indian here, too.”
