— Payette fiasco: In case you missed it, Julie Payette resigned as governor general yesterday after the release of a damning report on the “toxic” work environment at Rideau Hall. Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc said the ordeal showed a need for a stronger vetting process. It will likely raise questions about Prime Minister Trudeau’s judgment.

— Vaccine delays worse than thought: Prime Minister Trudeau spoke directly to the CEO of Pfizer yesterday, as Canada learned that the upcoming, temporary slowdown in shipments would be even worse than expected. Provinces will not get a per-capita share of doses, as deliveries are so far expected to receive a more than 60-per-cent cut in coming weeks. Pfizer says the temporary slowdown will allow it to expand its plant, and ship hundreds of millions more doses over the rest of the year.
