The first Indigenous-led and operated hospice on First Nations territory in Canada is coming to Six Nations.
The Six Nations of the Grand River Community Hospice will be a five-bed facility to be built on Fourth Line behind the Six Nations Police department.
“It’s been a project the community has worked on for over ten years, based on a needs assessment and community engagement,” said project manager Lois Bomberry. “It will be grounded in cultural ceremonies, design, and architecture, (operate) 24/7 and will house a staffing complement of physicians, nurses, volunteers, and allied health professionals.”
