Arcand wants Tribal Council to have direct role in vaccine rollout – Saskatoon StarPhoenix

“Our age demographics would look a lot different than the provincial standards they have now in regard to the vaccine,” Arcand said.

Saskatoon Tribal Council Chief Mark Arcand wants urban Indigenous communities represented and involved in the province’s vaccine rollout.

Saskatchewan’s COVID-19 vaccination plan does not mention urban Indigenous populations, who Arcand says are at a disproportionately high risk of being affected by the pandemic.

He argues STC should have a direct role in getting the vaccine into members’ arms.

“We want to know what’s going on, we want to have direct contact and direct linkages. We want to promote and educate as much as we can through our ways of being, so that our First Nations people get the vaccine,” Arcand said.
