The Yukon Chief Medical Officer of Health has released the Yukon Cancer Incidence Report 2009–2016. The report provides detailed information on regional trends in cancer incidence. The report is intended to inform the public as well as to help policy-makers and health professionals make decisions about cancer control and prevention in Yukon.
The Yukon Cancer Incidence Report 2009-2016 provides the clearest picture yet of how cancer is affecting Yukoners, and allows evidence based recommendations for new directions in cancer prevention and care.
There are multiple factors that influence the risk of cancer, from biological to environmental factors, to the social circumstances we live in. Almost half of cancers can be prevented and in some cases it can be caught at an early and treatable stage. Knowing more about cancer risk factors, prevention and early detection is important for everyone.
