Yukon’s chief medical officer of health declares public health emergency – APTN News

At a media update this morning, Yukon Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Brendan Hanley accompanied by Premier Sandy Silver declared a public health emergency.
The declaration comes after events around Yukon have been canceled and a social distancing rule came in affect.
New public health measures include the suspension of all classes until after April 15; all public recreation facilities will remain closed after Wednesday; and all three Yukon hospitals will be closed with limited exception.
This declaration gives the chief medical officer the ability to ensure safety of Yukoners with a fast response in this evolving situation.
