Premier says authority too pricey to implement
A Yukon chief is blasting the territorial government’s plans to hit pause on the development of a health authority and is demanding it reverse its decision.
The government informed chiefs at a quarterly forum meeting last week it would halt work on the authority – and possibly scrap it all together – due to financial constraints.
Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation Chief Pauline Frost, who is chair of the chiefs committee on health and a former Liberal health and social services minister, said the announcement blindsided chiefs.
