Living Life Online: Mental Health and Social Media
Social media has completely changed how teens interact and it is constantly evolving. While there are numerous benefits to social media but, it has also caused some difficulties around expectations for communication and our mental health. This workshop provides information on social media use and resources for maintaining the balance when using it. Topics discussed will include:
Your host: Taylor Rawson is MNO’s Gaming and Gambling Health Promotion Specialist. Taylor has a bilingual bachelor’s degree in social sciences with a major in criminology and a minor in psychology from the University of Ottawa. She is a Métis citizen from Lafontaine, ON now residing in Ottawa. Prior to joining the MNO, Taylor provided substance use counselling to students in elementary schools and high schools. She has also worked in case management for individuals with developmental disabilities and in enhanced supportive housing for managed opioid treatment.
