Youth struck by LRT taken to out of region hospital with life-threatening injuries – CBC

Emergency crews worked to safely extract the youth who was trapped under the train, police said

Regional police continue to investigate a collision that left a male youth with life-threatening injuries after being struck by an LRT train in Kitchener Wednesday.

Police said emergency crews responded to reports of a collision in the area of Charles Street E., and Cameron Street N., at approximately 2:35 p.m.

Officers determined that the youth was attempting to cross Charles Street when he was struck by an LRT train that was travelling east, police said.

The youth was trapped under the train and emergency crews worked to safely extract him. He was then transported to a Hamilton hospital by Ornge Air ambulance.

Roads in the area were closed until 6:30 p.m. while police investigated.
