Whooping Cough (Pertussis) and Measles Vaccines

Press Release

Iqaluit Public Health is advising Nunavummiut that they are adding a new appointment-run vaccination clinic on Mondays in addition to available walk-ins on Fridays for part of April and May, providing Whooping Cough and measles vaccines to all eligible Nunavummiut aged 12 months and older.

Individuals born prior to 1970 may have inherent protection against measles; however, it remains important for everyone to consult with a care provider to confirm their eligibility for both measles and pertussis vaccinations. This is particularly crucial for those planning to travel abroad or individuals with underlying health conditions, such as immunodeficiencies. Scheduling a brief appointment can provide clarity on your vaccination status and ensure comprehensive protection against measles and whooping cough.

Protect yourself, your family and your community from whooping cough and measles by getting vaccinated between April 22 and May 27, 2024 at:

  • Mondays: Scheduled appointments for whooping cough and measles vaccines  are available from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Fridays: Walk-ins for all vaccines, including flu and Covid-19,  continue to be available between 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Call to book your Monday appointment at 867-975-4800 or 867-975-4824. Please bring your immunization records to your appointment if you have them.
