After having most of their high school education disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s graduating students faces new challenges inside and outside of the classroom as they prepare to enter post-secondary life.

Rapidly rising food prices are putting a further strain on household budgets, each driven in part by the pandemic. It’s forcing more people to turn to their communities for their next meal, and grassroots groups are stepping up in new ways to help.

Quebec interim public health director Dr. Luc Boileau is expected to hold a news conference at 2 p.m. today about mask mandates.

The province announced yesterday elementary and high school students won’t need to wear masks in class when they return from March break.

Numbers to watch

Testing can’t meet demand during the Omicron wave, meaning many people with COVID-19 won’t be reflected in the case count. Hospitalizations and wastewater monitoring can help fill in some of the grey areas.
