Quebec Premier François Legault has scrapped his proposed tax on the unvaccinated, sources tell CBC and Radio-Canada. He will hold a news conference at 1 p.m.

New pandemic models came out this morning that broadly suggest Omicron spread has either stopped growing or started dropping in Ontario, with some mystery for the weeks ahead because it’s hard to know how many people have protection from getting it.

Ottawa Public Health has closed its University of Ottawa COVID-19 vaccine clinic for a fourth day because of traffic disruptions in the area from the ongoing park-in protest against pandemic rules.

Numbers to watch
Testing can’t meet demand during the Omicron wave, meaning many people with COVID-19 won’t be reflected in the case count. Hospitalizations and wastewater monitoring can help fill in some of the grey areas.
