Quebec has shifted the end of many pandemic rules, including its proof-of-vaccination system and capacity limits, to March 12 from March 14. Its health ministry an update on mandatory mask rules will come by mid-April.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Health Minister Christine Elliott have an unspecified announcement scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET. Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore has his weekly news conference at 3 p.m.

Ottawa’s transportation committee is recommending city council continue to relax its patio rules for another year, such as temporary road closures, pop-up retail vending and a closing time of 2 a.m. for patios.

Numbers to watch
Testing can’t meet the general public’s demand because of the contagious Omicron variant, meaning many people with COVID-19 won’t be reflected in the case count. Hospitalizations and wastewater monitoring can help fill in some of the grey areas.
