Wellness Conference Planned for March

FORT FRANCES – Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre and Fort Frances Area Tribal Health Services are pleased to present a Wellness Conference on March 19 & 20 at La Place Rendezvous in Fort Frances. The conference theme is “Gana Wenidizon”, which translates to “Taking Care of Yourself” and  will focus on Holistic Health and Wellness.

Conference planners are excited to welcome Stan Wesley as the Guest Host and Keynote Speaker. Stan is well-known on the conference circuit for his wit and intelligence. Don’t miss Stan’s session, “Using Humour to Heal” that will kick-off the Conference on March 19th.

A variety of presenters have also been confirmed who will offer tools and demonstrate ways to  achieve physical health, spiritual health, mental health and emotional health. Whether it is exercise to  relieve stress, writing to heal, using art to find the power within or becoming empowered through the achievement of goals there will be something for everyone.

“We have a well-balanced mix of presenters focusing on these four areas”, noted Beverley Cochrane who is the Program Manager at Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre and chairing the planning committee for this Conference.

“Spring is a time for renewal and new life and this conference will be a great opportunity for individuals to prepare and connect with themselves and each other in a good way”.

Registration is FREE and everyone is welcome!!!

“The conference Agenda has something for everyone – men and women, First Nations and non-First Nations”, noted Joe Hunter, Community Wellness Worker at Rainy River First Nations who is also on the planning committee.

“Holistic health and wellness benefit us all”, he added.

Participants must pre-register by Friday, March 8, 2013 to ensure a spot at the Conference.
