Join us on June 1st and 2nd 2015 in Edmonton, Alberta. As Keepers of the Athabasca and partners host a Food Security and Renewable Energy Conference. At this time, as the climate changes and our dependency on outsourced food becomes more apparent, there is a great need to reintroduce and revitalize the need for communities to have food and energy security.
Indigenous communities are at times some of the most vulnerable, due to lack of infrastructure, economy and political support. We aim to bring light to the possibility of how food security and energy security, makes great strides towards a communities self-sufficiency. By growing our own food and contributing to our food needs and accessing energy that is renewable, we can ensure our greater independence as indigenous communities and in turn, have a greater focus on protecting and preserving indigenous ways of culture.
It is remembering our ancestors ways, honoring them, while learning about the new technologies that are becoming more commonly used.
Registration is $45 for both days for students, elders, grassroots or $85 for both days for organizations, leadership, administration, governments, business.
