The COVID, cold and flu clinic on Sportsworld Drive in Kitchener, Ont., will close at the end of day on Friday.
The clinic was for community members who had symptoms of COVID-19, colds or the flu to get seen by a doctor without going to local emergency departments.
The clinic was operated by Grand River Hospital and supported by local health teams, public health as well as St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener and Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
The clinic cared for more than 8,000 patients in the six months of operations with up to 400 visits each week, Grand River Hospital said in a news release Wednesday.
“This clinic closure is co-ordinated with the return of warmer weather and anticipated seasonal decline of cold and flu,” the release said.
The hospital said people who have COVID-19, cold or flu symptoms should see family doctors, attend an urgent care clinic or talk to a pharmacist in the community after Friday. People with severe symptoms are encouraged to go to the emergency department of their local hospital.
