Health Canada has announced a joint recall with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for several models of Vesta Tankless Hot Water Heaters after identifying a carbon monoxide poisoning hazard.
The defect involves cracked exhaust ducts in some units, which can allow carbon monoxide gas to leak into living spaces – potentially causing death or serious injury, according to the recall published Thursday.
The recall covers all serial numbers of VRS and VRP models. The recall impacts certain units of the VRS-Plus and VRP-Plus with serial numbers beginning with “6LM” or “6LN” or “6LO” followed by A through F, in the colours dark grey and white.
Nearly 4,000 units were sold in Canada between May 2017 and July 2025, the recall said. While in the U.S., about 36,700 units are included in the recall.
As of Oct. 10, the company has received reports of 10 cracked exhaust ducts in Canada and 33 in the U.S. No injuries or deaths have been reported, so far.
