Two-day juried show and sale features artisans from Manitoba and Canada’s North
Winnipeg, Manitoba, August 3, 2017: Handmade toques, mitts, and socks will provide a colourful backdrop to this year’s CRAFTED: Show + Sale on November 3 and 4 at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. The third annual craft fair will once again feature a handmade philanthropic component that in 2017 will see hundreds of special handmade items donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Winnipeg (BGCW).
“We all love the feeling of a cozy hat, warm mittens, or snuggly socks. And if you enjoy knitting, crocheting or sewing, this is a great opportunity to help a young person who could really use it,” says Juanita Giesbrecht, CRAFTED 2017 chair. “Making and donating an item is a great way to contribute to the community and ensures the handmade becomes the hand given.”
The public is invited to make toques, mitts, or socks for CRAFTED 2017 where they will be showcased at the WAG for visitors. After the event, the handmade donations will be given to the BGCW, an organization that provides safe after school services for children and youth ages 6 to 16.
Deadline for drop-off is October 16, 2017. Drop off locations include: Ayoko Design, 302-960 Portage Ave., Ram Wools, 942 Erin St., Wolseley Wool, 889 Westminster Ave., Keystone Quilts, 1-1599 Dugald Rd., and Quilters’ Den, 565a Stephen St, Morden.
CRAFTED 2017 will take place on Friday, November 3 from 11am until 9pm and Saturday, November 4 from 11am until 5pm at the WAG, 300 Memorial Boulevard. Presented in partnership with Manitoba Craft Council and Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association, along with this year’s new partner, Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador, this one-of-a-kind event highlights over 50 artists from Manitoba, plus a select number from Nunavut, Nunatsiavut, and the Northwest Territories; and features DIY workshops and live craft demonstrations! Watch crafted.wag.ca for artists and workshop updates.
Tickets are just $5 per day, free for kids under 12. Entry includes admission to WAG galleries and tickets are available at the door.
