Virtual Event: Cultural Safety, Ethical Spaces, and Paradigm Shifts: Sharing the Journey of the Promoting Life Together Collaborative
Over the last year, the Northern and Indigenous Health (NIH) team at Healthcare Excellence Canada (HEC), has been working closely with the Promoting Life Together Collaborative (PLT) Guidance Group to develop Knowledge Sharing Products that share stories of the collaboration and relationship development that was required to bring together different world views and facilitate the life promotion work of the PLT Collaborative.
The PLT Collaborative was a 20-month life promotion and community wellness initiative convened by the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement, now Healthcare Excellence Canada, and in response to and with members of the Canadian Northern and Remote Health Network. It modeled a co-designed learning approach that brought together six multi-disciplinary teams from across northern, rural, and remote regions.
Each team in the collaborative worked alongside communities and First Nations and Métis coaches to deliver an initiative that addressed life promotion and community wellness.
In November, we officially launched the Sharing the Story of the Promoting Life Together Collaborative through video interviews with PLT Collaborative Guidance Group members and a written document.

PLT Collaborative Virtual Learning Series
To celebrate the launch of these knowledge products, and to share the story of the PLT Collaborative, we will also be hosting the second event of a two-part virtual learning series.
The panel will discuss and share lessons learned regarding cultural safety, ethical spaces, paradigm shifts within the Collaborative and of Indigenous and non-Indigenous health organizations who supported the work. Clips of videos, including the 45-minute Sharing Our Story video, will be shown as panel members answer questions and share reflections and learnings of their experience with the Promoting Life Together Collaborative.
