Chief Frances Iron thought long and hard about getting a COVID-19 vaccine.
The chief of Canoe Lake Cree Nation said he was hesitant about the shot because of his traditional beliefs, including teachings about medicine he initially worried were incompatible with receiving the vaccine. In the end, he decided rolling up his sleeve was the best way to protect him, his family, and his community, he said.
“I had some doubts. I had some mixed emotions. At the end of the day, even I needed to be convinced.”
