UofA Professor brings Indigenous perspectives to health research and policy as new AHS chair – CFWE

On January 1 Jessica Kolopenuk, a Cree researcher from the University of Alberta (UofA) has taken on the role of Alberta Health Services (AHS) Chair in Indigenous Health within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

The purpose of the newly created position that is funded by the AHS, is to promote research and scholarship in Indigenous health and to develop research partnerships, including partnerships within Indigenous communities.

CFWE spoke with Jessica Kolopenuk to talk about her new role with AHS, saying that it’s a huge honor with a big responsibility to help expand Indigenous health research at the UofA.
