Ulkatcho First Nation Declares State of Emergency Over Drug, Alcohol, and Opioid Crisis – CFNR

Another Northern First Nation is declaring a state of emergency in an attempt to combat the opioid crisis.

Last week, the Carrier Sekani Nation declared a state of emergency, citing the overrepresentation of Indigenous residents in overdose deaths.

Now, the Ulkatcho First Nation, is taking it a step further, declaring a state of emergency over the opioid crisis, as well as an overall drug and alcohol crisis.

They say that they have lost 54 members of their community since 2015 due to overdose deaths of all kinds.
