The Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC) is currently, we are seeking the services of a Traditional Healing Shkaabewis (Helper) to join our interdisciplinary staff team at our London Site.
The Shkaabewis (Traditional Healing Services Helper) is an essential role that provides help to a dynamic team of Traditional Healers and Elders as they deliver SOAHAC’s core Traditional Healing services to the Aboriginal population across all stages of life. As a member of a multidisciplinary health services team, you will work cooperatively and collaboratively with other service providers, such as doctors, nurse practitioners, dietitians, and mental health counsellors, in the delivery of culturally safe, integrated care. You will uphold and demonstrate the life teachings given by the Elders. You will be the first contact for people seeking appointments with the Healers and Elders. You will greet people in a positive, kind way, providing a welcoming environment as they enter SOAHAC. Under the guidance of our Traditional Healers, you may be called upon to provide basic ceremonial preparation for our clients prior to them seeing the Healers.
