EDMONTON — A patchwork of transmission lines and trucks ferry water to around 250 households in Kehewin Cree Nation.
Located three hours east of Edmonton, the reserve has had a long-term boil-water advisory in place for over six years. But, according to the federal government, this advisory — one of the longest-lasting in the province’s history — will be lifted by springtime next year.
Many in the community don’t buy it. Ben Badger, a Kehewin headman, said “the aspirational date” of lifting the advisory “is not going to happen.”
