Survey of Household Spending, 2021

Canadian households spent an average of $67,126 on goods and services in 2021, down 2.7% from 2019. This was the first decline in household spending since 2010. On average, Canadian households spent less in various spending categories during the COVID-19 pandemic, which contributed to the decline in total consumption of goods and services from 2019 to 2021.

Canadian Housing Statistics Program: Real estate investors, 2021

From 2020 to 2021, the proportion of residential real estate investors was relatively stable in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia. In 2021, Prince Edward Island had the highest proportion of houses used as an investment among the provinces examined.

Health Reports, October 2023

Lockdowns and closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic reduced opportunities to participate in many forms of organized sport and recreation. Stay-at-home orders caused a shift to remote work and school and an increased reliance on screens. To better understand these effects, two new articles released today in Health Reports compare physical activity and screen time between the pre-pandemic (January to December 2018, January to March 2020) and pandemic (September to December 2020, January 2021 to February 2022) periods.

Today, Statistics Canada is releasing the report titled, “Status First Nations people in Canada: A snapshot from the 2021 Census,” produced in collaboration with the Assembly of First Nations. This report includes a variety of social and economic statistics for Status First Nations people living on and off reserve, as well as comparisons with the non-Indigenous population.
