Investment in building construction, September 2024
Investment in building construction rose 2.1% to $21.6 billion in September.
Canadian postsecondary enrolments and graduates, 2022/2023
Enrolments in colleges and universities increased to 2.2 million students in the 2022/2023 academic year, up 0.6% from the previous year. The number of international student enrolments increased for both colleges (+46,989; +29.7%) and universities (+17,538; +7.1%). In contrast, there were fewer Canadian students in both colleges (-25,002; -4.0%) and universities (-24,021; -2.1%).
Canada’s natural resource wealth, 2023
Following two consecutive yearly increases (+65% in 2022 and +152% in 2021), lower energy and mineral prices combined drove down the value of Canada’s natural resource assets by 33% in 2023.

Compared to their cisgender, heterosexual peers, youth aged 15 to 24 years who are Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer and those who use other terms related to gender or sexual diversity (2SLGBTQ+) were found to be at higher risk for mental health disorders and having thoughts of suicide in 2022. For example, 27% of 2SLGBTQ+ youth met criteria for a major depressive episode in the year prior to the survey, compared with 11% of cisgender, heterosexual youth. Approximately 1 in 4 (25%) 2SLGBTQ+ youth reported thoughts of suicide during this period, compared with 5% of cisgender, heterosexual youth.
