Survey of Household Spending, 2023
Canadian households spent an average of $76,750 on goods and services in 2023, up 14.3% from 2021. Amid the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, this was the largest two-year increase observed since the series began in 2010.

Canadians’ engagement with the Internet is ever-changing, and a significant trend is the growing popularity of user-generated videos (UGVs). Whether to connect, inform or entertain, nearly three-quarters (72%) of Canadians watched some type of UGV in the previous three months in 2022.

The prevalence of mental health and substance use (MHSU) disorders has increased among youth in Canada. Girls and women were more likely to report worsened mental health since the COVID-19 pandemic than boys and men, raising concern about their access to mental health services.
