Canada’s international transactions in securities, March 2023
Foreign investors reduced their exposure to Canadian securities by $19.1 billion in March, the largest divestment since September 2022. Meanwhile, Canadian investors reduced their holdings of foreign securities by $5.6 billion in March 2023, a fourth consecutive monthly divestment.
Investment in building construction, March 2023
Investment in building construction declined 1.3% to $20.3 billion in March. The residential sector fell 2.1% to $14.6 billion, while the non-residential sector went up by 0.9% to $5.7 billion.

Sleep and obesity in the Canadian Armed Forces
Sleep disturbance and sleep duration have been associated with obesity in the general population, but few studies have examined this in a military setting. The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) differ from the general population in their occupational demands, such as deployments and frequent and regular postings; requirements for physical training, testing and maintenance of physical levels; and a unique workforce culture. Because the CAF population is generally excluded from national population health surveys, the study “Sleep duration, sleep quality and obesity in the Canadian Armed Forces” provides data on a unique and understudied military population.
New motor vehicle sales, March 2023
New motor vehicle sales data for Canada and the provinces are now available for March. The New Motor Vehicle Sales Survey collects data on monthly sales (in dollars and units) of new motor vehicles in Canada by type of vehicle and by country or region of manufacture.
