Distributions of household economic accounts for income, consumption, saving and wealth of Canadian households, first quarter 2025
The income gap reached a record high in the first quarter; the highest income households gained from investments, while the lowest income households’ wages declined. Lower borrowing costs and easing inflationary pressures facilitated household saving and debt management, while declining real estate values weighed on the average wealth of younger age groups and the least wealthy.

Most older Canadians prefer to live independently, but this can become more difficult with age if they need help with daily tasks such as personal care, home maintenance, transportation, meal preparation, etc. As Canada’s senior population grows—and with the limited capacity and rising costs of long-term care—there is a greater demand for programs that help people age in their homes and communities.
Certified organic fruit and vegetable production estimates, 2024
The farm-gate value of certified organic fruits and vegetables increased by 2.9% to reach $171.8 million in 2024. Production of organic vegetables rose 4.8%, to 49.1 million kilograms, while organic fruit production declined 2.9% to 43.5 million kilograms. As usual, weather played a key role— a cold snap in British Columbia drastically reduced production for some organic fruit crops, while a drier summer in Eastern Canada led to a larger organic vegetable harvest.

Today, Statistics Canada is releasing a new visualization tool, entitled ”Geographic mobility of Canadian graduates with a bachelor’s degree: Interactive visualization tool,” which highlights the geographic mobility of Canadian graduates with a bachelor’s degree. This interactive tool shows, for each province of study, where graduates come from and where they go one year after graduation.
