Cancer incidence in Canada, 2017
Thousands of Canadians are diagnosed with cancer every year. One way to monitor how cancer affects Canadians is to measure cancer incidence in Canada—that is, the number of new cancer cases diagnosed over a certain time period, usually one year. This measurement helps Canadians understand the risk of being diagnosed with cancer, and can be broken down by sex, age and other factors.
A profile of Canadians with mental health-related disabilities
Many Canadians experience mental illness, and it can affect various aspects of their lives, including health, well-being, social functioning, education and employment. Some can feel limited in their daily activities because of their condition, at which point they are considered to have a mental health-related disability.
Price trends in key Canadian housing markets, fourth quarter 2019
Prices for residential properties rose by 0.6% from the third quarter to the fourth quarter of 2019. Higher prices for resale properties (+0.9%) were partially offset by lower prices for new properties (-0.2%). Prices for condominium apartments and houses (both up 0.5%) rose at the same pace in the six census metropolitan area (CMA) composite covered by the survey.
Railway carloadings, November 2019
Canadian railways carried 30.0 million tonnes of freight in November, down 11.7% compared with November 2018. This was the largest decline for the month of November in the past five years and the third consecutive year-over-year monthly decrease in tonnage.
Production and disposition of tobacco products, December 2019
Canadian manufacturers produced 1.2 billion cigarettes in December, down 34.6% from November. Cigarette production was 14.5% lower compared with December 2018.
