Building permits, October 2021
The total value of building permits increased 1.3% to $10.3 billion in October, led by gains in British Columbia (+15.0%) and Ontario (+4.5%). Construction intentions in the non-residential sector were up 4.2%, while the residential sector edged down 0.1%.
Study: Indigenous Youth in Canada
The Indigenous population is significantly younger than the non-Indigenous population. Young people aged 15 to 24 years make up 17% of the Indigenous population, compared with 12% for the non-Indigenous population. On average, Indigenous peoples were 8.8 years younger than the non-Indigenous population in 2016.

Study: Changes in fertility intentions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic
This article provides insights into the possible long-term consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on childbearing behaviour in the years to come. Using data from the Canadian Social Survey – COVID-19 and Well-being, it examines whether and how persons aged 15 to 49 years changed their childbearing plans in 2021 due to the pandemic, and whether this differs according to socioeconomic characteristics.
