The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 2.8% on a year-over-year basis in February, down from a 2.9% gain in January. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.1% in February.

Nursing and residential care facilities, 2022

The combined operating revenues of private and public nursing and residential care facilities grew by 4.2% to reach $39.1 billion in 2022. Despite the increasing proportion of Canadians aged 65 and older requiring care and the challenges related to workforce recruitment and retention, the nursing and residential care facilities subsector experienced slower growth in 2022, compared with 2020 and 2021.

Households and the Environment Survey: Energy use, 2021

Canadian households consumed 1.3 million terajoules of energy in their homes in 2021, which is a level similar to 2019. On average, the amount of energy consumed per household was 85.4 gigajoules in 2021, down from 90.5 gigajoules in 2019. Of the total energy consumed in Canadian homes in 2021, natural gas accounted for 51.5%, down 1.9% from 2019; electricity for 45.8%, up 1.9% from 2019; and heating oil for 2.7%, the same as in 2019.
