Consumer Price Index, March 2023
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 4.3% on a year-over-year basis in March, following a 5.2% increase in February. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.1% in March.
Premature and potentially avoidable mortality in Canada, provinces and territories, 2011 to 2020
Based on the definition of avoidable mortality by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, 77,000, or one-quarter, of the over 307,000 deaths in Canada in 2020 were potentially avoidable. From 2011 to 2019, the age-standardized avoidable mortality rates steadily declined, but an increase of 4% was observed in 2020, corresponding to approximately 3,000 more avoidable deaths.
Multifactor productivity growth estimates and industry productivity database, 2021
Multifactor productivity, measured as output per unit of combined labour and capital inputs, declined 2.1% in the Canadian business sector in 2021. The decline in 2021 resulted from the growth of combined inputs (+7.2%) outpacing the growth of gross domestic product (+5.0%).
Labour market outcomes for college and university graduates, 2010 to 2019
Today, Statistics Canada is releasing data on labour market outcomes for college and university graduates for the graduating classes of 2010 to 2019. This release includes information on the median employment income by educational qualification, field of study, gender, age group and status of student in Canada. For the first time, this release includes a separate category for international students. Data are available at the national, provincial and territorial levels.
New motor vehicle sales, February 2023
New motor vehicle sales data for Canada and the provinces are now available for February. The New Motor Vehicle Sales Survey collects data on monthly sales (in dollars and units) of new motor vehicles in Canada by type of vehicle and by country or region of manufacture.
