Canada’s net foreign asset position continued its upward trend to reach $1,501.9 billion at the end of the second quarter, an increase of $113.2 billion from the previous quarter.
Provisional death counts and excess mortality, January 2020 to June 2021
From March 2020 to the beginning of June 2021, there were an estimated 23,547 excess deaths in Canada. Age-standardized mortality rates for 2020 are compared with previous years to better understand how overall mortality trends for certain age groups may have been driven by different causes of death.
Research and development in Canadian industry: Intellectual property, 2019 (final)
Businesses in Canada that engaged in research and development (R&D) activities in 2019 received payments for (sold) $4.4 billion worth of intellectual property (IP), software and technological services. This was more than double the $1.8 billion they made in payments (purchased).

Lumber production by sawmills decreased 0.02% from May to 4,928.2 thousand cubic metres in June. Production was 1.1% higher than in June 2020.
Asphalt roofing material, July 2021
Shipments of asphalt shingles totalled 3.1 million metric bundles in July—down 16.2% from the previous month and down 20.4% from July 2020.
