Monthly Survey of Manufacturing, October 2023
Canadian manufacturing sales decreased 2.8% in October, mainly on lower sales of petroleum and coal product, machinery, and computer and electronic product subsectors.
Earnings and mobility indicators for newly certified journeypersons in Canada, 2021
In 2021, individuals who became journeypersons—either by successfully completing an apprenticeship program or by earning a certificate of qualification—had a median employment income of $56,160. This was a 12.2% increase (+$6,120) from the median employment income of journeypersons who certified in 2020 and marked the highest median income and the most substantial year-over-year growth since the series began in 2008. The sharp increase in earnings in 2021 coincided with a robust demand for skilled tradespeople in a tight labour market and was a sharp contrast to 2020, when COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and worksite closures hindered tradespeople’s capacity to work.
Urban public transit, October 2023
In October, Canada’s urban transit ridership reached 136.0 million trips, the highest monthly level since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Provisional death counts, January 2021 to September 2023
Today Statistics Canada is releasing new and updated provisional data on deaths and causes of death from the Canadian Vital Statistics Death Database.
Infrastructure economic account, 2022
With today’s release, estimates for investment, stock, remaining useful service life, as well as economic and environmental impacts have been revised due to the incorporation of the capital investment data from the third quarter 2023 release of the Income and Expenditure accounts on November 30. As a result, all nominal values from 2020 to 2022 have been revised. All constant dollar estimates have been updated to a new price reference period of 2017=100 and therefore are revised for the entire time series back to 1961.
New motor vehicle sales, October 2023
New motor vehicle sales data for Canada and the provinces are now available for October. The New Motor Vehicle Sales Survey collects data on monthly sales (in dollars and units) of new motor vehicles in Canada by type of vehicle and by country or region of manufacture.
Telecommunications services producer price indexes, third quarter 2023
Data from the third quarter of the telecommunications services producer price indexes (first quarter of 2020=100) are now available upon request.
