Circumstances surrounding fire-related deaths among Indigenous people in Canada, 2011 to 2020
From 2011 to 2020, an average of 220 fire-related deaths occurred each year in Canada. In the Canadian context, fire-related mortality and morbidity have previously been found to be significantly higher among Indigenous people (First Nations people, Métis and Inuit)—particularly among First Nations people and Inuit—when compared with non-Indigenous people.
Provisional death counts, January 2021 to May 2024
Today’s release includes new and updated adjusted counts of death from the Canadian Vital Statistics Death Database, covering the period from January 3, 2021, to June 1, 2024. The Provisional Deaths in Canada Dashboard, which provides the most recent insights on mortality trends, as well as interactive data visualization tools, has been updated.
Retail Commodity Survey, May 2024
Retail sales reached $73.2 billion in May, an increase of 1.1% compared with the same month one year earlier. Higher sales were reported in 7 of the 18 commodity classes.
