The income and wealth gaps increased in the third quarter of 2023 relative to the same period a year earlier as higher interest rates had a negative impact on the income and net worth of the lowest income and least wealthy households.
The continued impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic: Variations in the economic integration of new immigrants
In tax year 2021, the median entry wages for immigrants admitted in 2020 rebounded to $37,700 and surpassed the pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels. Variations in the economic integration of newcomers by sex, admission categories and pre-admission experience are also outlined in this release.
Urban public transit, November 2023
In November, Canada’s urban transit systems logged over 135 million passenger trips, the second highest monthly total since restrictions came into force in March 2020 to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Performing arts, 2022
Restrictions relating to the COVID-19 pandemic continued to affect the performing arts industry in 2022, as did changing consumer preferences for attending live shows. Though businesses were able to resume most of their regular operations over the course of the year, audiences were not necessarily ready to return to their seats.
