Canadian Survey on Business Conditions, third quarter 2023
Although some pressures, including those related to supply chains and prices, have been easing since the first quarter of 2022, there are some signs indicating that the outlook of businesses has deteriorated in the third quarter of 2023 relative to the previous quarter.
Deaths, 2021
There were 311,640 deaths in Canada in 2021, an increase of 1.0% from 2020. While male deaths increased, female deaths declined compared with 2020. Life expectancy at birth for Canadians fell in 2021. The decrease in life expectancy in Canada was entirely attributable to men as a slight increase was noted for women.
Self-reported experiences of discrimination among Chinese people in Canada, and their perceptions of and experiences with the police and the justice system
In the five years preceding the 2019 General Social Survey (GSS) on Canadians’ Safety (Victimization), 3 in 10 (29%) Chinese people aged 15 and older in Canada reported experiencing discrimination or unfair treatment in their daily lives. While this proportion was similar to that of other racialized populations (29%), it was nearly double that of the non-racialized population (16%).
Pathways indicators for registered apprentices in Canada, 2021
The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the lives of many Canadians, including apprentices. The closure of numerous worksites and educational institutions disrupted on-the-job hours and technical training, making it challenging to accumulate credits toward certification. As a result, many apprentices faced challenges completing their programs on time.

Production and disposition of tobacco products, July 2023
Canadian manufacturers produced 1.1 billion cigarettes in July 2023, up 2.2% from June 2023. Cigarette production was 21.6% lower compared with July 2022.
