Labour Force Survey, August 2021
Employment rose by 90,000 (+0.5%) in August, the third consecutive monthly increase. The unemployment rate fell 0.4 percentage points to 7.1%.
National balance sheet and financial flow accounts, second quarter 2021
National net worth, the sum of national wealth and Canada’s net foreign asset position, increased by 4.6% to reach $15,649.3 billion at the end of the second quarter.
Industrial capacity utilization rates, second quarter 2021
Canadian industries operated at 82.0% of their production capacity in the second quarter of 2021, up from 81.4% in the first quarter. This is the fourth consecutive quarterly increase following the sharp decline caused by plant closures and the various restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic in the second quarter of 2020.
