Press Release
16 September 2022
The Department of Health is advising residents of Taloyoak that regular health services will resume at the new Taloyoak Health Centre on September 19, 2022. Health services were reduced to only emergency services on August 18, 2022 following a fuel spill.
The Department of Community and Government Services (CGS) has completed cleanup of the spill in the boiler room, removed fuel contaminated insulation from the floor assembly and is currently re-insulating the floor. Some cleanup of contaminated soil remains but will not affect air quality or normal operations at the health centre.
Follow-up air quality testing and inspection, by CGS and environment consultant Tetra Tech Canada Inc., show the building to be safe for staff and clients to return.
