Dr. Carrie Bourassa is an experienced and well-regarded researcher, but she sees herself more as a “servant to indigenous communities” than anything else.
Health Sciences North Research Institute recruited Bourassa as the Chair in Northern and Indigenous Health.
She was welcomed Thursday at a news conference at HSN’s Ramsey Lake Health Centre where she spoke about the importance of community-based health research.
Bourassa arrived from Saskatchewan where she taught at First Nations University of Canada and ran two research labs funded by a Canada Foundation for Innovation grant.
