Squamish Nation Drug and Alcohol Free Zones

July 21, 2016

In an effort to make our public spaces and common areas more safe, livable, and appealing for families, Chiefs and Council passed the resolution formally establishing certain areas of Reserves as Drug and Alcohol Free Zones. No open consumption of alcohol will be allowed in these areas and we will be installing many signs to this effect. We will also be requesting the police to fully enforce the “liquor Control and Licensing Act” on Reserve but more so in the designated areas.

This action is effective immediately but a transition period is needed.  These documents will be included in the weekly newsletters and will be delivered door to door on Reserve later this week.   The signage will likely be installed within the next 2 or 3 weeks.  In total about 45 signs throughout these areas will be installed.
