Over 100 years since some women got the vote in Manitoba, homelessness unfortunately is a reality for women in our community. This research brings a gender-based analsysis to the homelessness crisis to better understand women’s experiences and what women identify is needed. Researchers conducted interviews with 30 women who’ve experienced homelessness in Winnipeg and 10 key informants working in this area. The information was analyzed and the report includes recommendations for action. The report is peer reviewed.
Advising the report are leaders from Ma Mawi, North End Women’s Centre, North Point Douglas Women’s Centre, West Central Women’s Centre, End Homelessness Inc and the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg.
Thank you to the funders: the Province of Manitoba through NA!, United Way Winnipeg, End Homelessness Inc, Assiniboine Credit Union and the Manitoba Research Alliance.
