Six Nations Mourns the Loss of Eleventh Community Member to COVID-19

On April 29, 2021, Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council received notice from Ohsweken Public Health that our community has lost an eleventh member due to COVID-19 complications.

Six Nations Elected Council would like to express their sincere condolences to the families and friends affected by this tragic loss.

Six Nations is currently in Alert Level Black, the highest level of the Pandemic Response Framework. Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 variants of concern in surrounding areas and within our own community, everyone is being urged to stay home as much as possible.

The Six Nations Elected Council sends their thoughts, prayers, and good medicine to those who have lost someone to COVID-19, and to those who have been struggling during this pandemic. If you think you may have come into contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or if you are experiencing symptoms, please book a test at the Assessment Centre either online at www.sixnationscovid19.ca, or by phone at 1-855-977-7737 or 226-446-9909.

Six Nations members are also encouraged to get vaccinated by booking a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at www.sixnationscovid19.ca, or by calling the Vaccine Call Center at 226-227-9288.

Please continue to do your part to protect our people by staying home where possible, avoiding private gatherings, wearing a mask, washing/sanitizing your hands frequently, and getting vaccinated. Our community is resilient, and we will get through this pandemic together.
