Saugeen First Nation pandemic precautions and programs – Shoreline Beacon

Saugeen First Nation (SFN) Council has approved COVID-19 relief funding on a case-by-case basis for community members, while Chief and Council of Nawash have extended the Emergency Living Wage support program until May 4.

SFN Chief Lester Anoquot says application forms are currently being drafted and asked for patience as staff is practicing social distancing protocols as they continue to provide services in the community.

The Emergency Living Wage program provides $450 per week to qualified applicants economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation have declared States of Emergency and erected signs telling visitors and cottage owners to stay at the their primary residents during the pandemic.
