REGINA – No butts about it _ the University of Regina is going smoke-free beginning Aug. 1.
Starting on that date anyone who wants to light up a cigarette will have to leave the campus to get their fix.
Darren Cherwaty, director of health, safety and wellness, says the university is not going cold turkey.
He says the school began working towards a smoke-free campus back in 2016.
Last year, the university stubbed out the number of smoking areas from 19 down to three.
The ban will also include marijuana and vaping, but there will be exemptions made for Indigenous cultural practices and research. (CJME)
