Position Summary
A permanent full time opportunity exists for a Rural and Remote Adult Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Worker in Grand Forks. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced MHSU worker to join our team!At Boundary Mental Health & Substance Use we work as a generalist team. We serve people across the mental health and substance use spectrum from the age of 19 to end of life. This opportunity as a generalist clinician in a rural and remote area gives you the opportunity to work with all different types of mental illness to hone your skills in a variety of areas.

The Rural & Remote Adult Mental Health & Substance Use Worker functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, whose purpose is to ensure that adults with serious mental disorders and/or substance use have access to responsive, sensitive and relevant assessment and treatment services. The program serves the adult and elderly population that experiences mental health disorders or substance use and impairment in personal, family, financial, occupational and/or social life. This includes individuals with acute psychosis, bizarre behavior, depression, anxiety, complicated grief, suicidal ideation, substance use, substance dependence and concurrent disorders.

The primary duties include intake assessment, crisis intervention, referral, case management, psychogeriatric support, collaborative community planning, psycho-education with clients and their families, and liaison with appropriate professionals. Duties include urgent response intervention to individuals in acute crisis, consultation with other care providers to identify educational needs for the community and subsequent strategies to address these needs, and to coordinate services for adults and elderly with mental health and/or substance use problems.

Shifts of work are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30 with weekends and statutory holidays off.

Qualifications
Masters degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.Two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid BC driver’s license.
