Enhancing inclusion, education and accessilbity
Five new municipalities in British Columbia have joined others in an effort to enhance accessibility within their communities. The Rick Hansen Foundation B.C. Accessibility Grants program, aimed at improving accessibility, has welcomed Delta, alongside Chilliwack, Maple Ridge, Saanich, and Victoria, to its roster this year. These additions supplement the previously announced municipalities, including Coquitlam, Kamloops, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Port Moody, Prince George, Richmond, and Whistler, along with indigenous communities like Seabird Island Band, Ditidaht First Nation, and Malahat Nation.

Funded by the B.C. government, this program offers various benefits such as complimentary RHF Accessibility Certification (RHFAC) ratings, funding of up to $90,000 for accessibility improvements to existing sites in each municipality, and accessibility training for city staff.
