Respiratory illness temporarily limits visitation at Cambridge Bay continuing care centre

The Department of Health is advising residents of Cambridge Bay that public access to the continuing care centre is being temporarily limited, effective immediately, due to a respiratory illness circulating in the community.

Protocols are in place to protect the health and safety of residents and staff. All Elders at the facility are being closely monitored. To reduce the risk of further spread and safeguard residents, visitations will be limited to ensure the safety of the Elders.

The department is working closely with staff to minimize transmission through enhanced cleaning and infection prevention measures.

Community members are encouraged to continue following public health guidance, including practicing good hand hygiene and staying home when unwell, to help protect Elders and other vulnerable residents.
